The genre of the movie is physocologial horror. This movie is considered a cult film. Its fame and recognition has transcended years.  PLOT  The film's central character is Jack Torrence. An aspiring writer and recovering alcoholic who accepts a position as the off-season caretaker, on the historic and isolated Overlook Hotel in the Colorado Rookies. His wife and young son accompany him in this new life process. As the days go by, Jack is endowed with "the glow". These are psychic abilities that allow him to see the hotel's horrific past.  His thoughts were filled with madness and anguish. This led to psychopathic actions. He saw shadows, dead people, blood and could even talk to these entities. All this drove Jack, and he wanted to murder his wife and children. They had to run from this dreadful place to save their lives
