THE SHINNING (1980)

The Shinning is a movie directed by Stanley Kubrick. This film is based on Stephen King's 1977 novel on the same name. The genre of the movie is physocologial horror. This movie is considered a cult film. Its fame and recognition has transcended years.

PLOT

The film's central character is Jack Torrence. An aspiring writer and recovering alcoholic who accepts a position as the off-season caretaker, on the historic and isolated Overlook Hotel in the Colorado Rookies. His wife and young son accompany him in this new life process. As the days go by, Jack is endowed with "the glow". These are psychic abilities that allow him to see the hotel's horrific past.

His thoughts were filled with madness and anguish. This led to psychopathic actions. He saw shadows, dead people, blood and could even talk to these entities. All this drove Jack, and he wanted to murder his wife and children. They had to run from this dreadful place to save their lives.

SCORE

My score for this movie is 10/10. I love this movie for a lot of reasons. Stephen King is one of my favorite writter of all time. Also, the actor is one of my favorite too. Interesting fact: He plays as the Joker, just a recommendation. When I was a little kid, I read my first book and I was fascinated. The locations of the movie were recorded are amazing, every scene has the proper colors and duration. My favorite scene is when Jack froze after failing to kill his wife, it is funny and scary.

WHY WOULD I recommend IT?

It's a yes. If you want more than just random blood and ghosts, this is your movie!  You can find suspense, some kind of love, maybe, great acting skills and much more.  Don't miss the opportunity to see it. Stephen's movies are excellent. Add it to your list, don't forget to leave your comment!

  2. This movie e is awesome. I don't consider it as scary but the plot it's really interesting because it's about dementia but in a caothic haunted place, I think the main character played by Nicholson is terrorifc role, it's worth it. Also the book that inspires the film has a sequel and it makes the storie much better.
