THE CONJURING
THE CONJURING
Based on a true story, The Conjuring tells how a pair of paranormal investigators, Ed and Lorraine Warren (Patrick Wilson, Vera Farmiga), come to the aid of a family terrorized by a dark presence on a remote farm. Forced to confront a powerful demonic entity, the Warrens find themselves caught up in the creepiest case of their lives.
The Conjuring tells the terrifying story of
two world-renowned paranormal investigators: Ed and Lorraine Warren, who are
summoned to help a family terrorized by a shadowy presence on a secluded Rhode
Island farm. The first day nothing happens except for the strange behavior of
their dog Sadie, who refuses to come in and starts barking; on the other hand,
one of the daughters unintentionally breaks a wall board and they discover a
cellar and one of the daughters finds a strange musical box. The next morning
strange things begin to happen: Carolyn wakes up with bruises on her arms and
legs and discovers the lifeless body of the dog. The next few days the
phenomena begin to manifest themselves with much more force. After the events
suffered, Carolyn manages to contact Ed and Lorraine Warren (Patrick Wilson and
Vera Farmiga), two parapsychologists to whom she asks for help. While
investigating the property's past, the couple discovers that the house once
belonged to Bathsheba (Joseph Bishara), a woman accused of witchcraft.
Days
later the phenomena continue to manifest in this house and finally the family
makes the decision to move to a motel while the Warren's finish with the investigations.
Meanwhile, Carolyn, after being possessed shortly before leaving the house,
takes two of her daughters: Christine and April (Joey King and Kyla Deaver)
back home with the intention of making a sacrificial offering, so both the
Warrens and the rest of the Perron family return home before Carolyn manages to
kill Christine. At one point in the film Lorraine tells Ed that the priest has
just received a message from the Vatican approving the use of the long-awaited
exorcism to which Ed responds with: "good riddance...". However, the
message does not end there, as they have to deal with another case on Long
Island.

SCORE
I thought it was a very good movie in general. If we highlight the genre to which it belongs, the horror here is not what stands out the most, I would have liked to see more horror. If there is something I must highlight is the setting, the soundtrack, most of the performances, but especially those of Vera Farmiga (Lorraine Warren) and Patrick Wilson (Ed Warren) because in my opinion they get so into their roles that it gives me a feeling as if I was inside the movie. As for the direction, it's okay, it still could have been better. I could realize something, probably they were inspired a little bit also in "the exorcist". I give it a 7/10.
WOULD I RECOMMEND IT?
I think it is a very good movie that if you see it will entertain you and will make you live moments of great terror. On the other hand, the atmosphere or the sensation that the film makes you feel is amazing, because at every moment you will feel like covering your eyes to avoid seeing a scene of terror. I recommend this movie because if you want to see a horror movie this is a very good option.
